Chelsea is in negotiations to acquire Spanish forward Samu Omorodion from Atletico Madrid.
Atletico has finalized an £81.5m agreement to sign Manchester City forward Julian Alvarez on Monday, and the sale of Omorodion will provide funds for the purchase of the Argentine player.
Sources indicate that personal terms have been settled with Alvarez, who is set to join for an initial fee of £64.4m, along with an additional £17.1m in possible add-ons.
In another transaction, Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher has agreed to make a £33m move to Atletico.
Omorodion, 20 years old, moved to Atletico last summer shortly after making his La Liga debut for Granada, where he notably scored against Atletico.
Atletico subsequently loaned Omorodion to Alaves, where he netted eight goals in 35 appearances last season.
Currently, he is competing in the Olympics and has contributed one goal to Spain’s journey to the final.
This summer, Chelsea has invested around £115m on new players, including midfielders Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Renato Veiga, and Omari Kellyman, alongside goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen, defenders Tosin Adarabioyo and Caleb Wiley, winger Estevao Willian, and striker Marc Guiu.
They have sold defenders Ian Maatsen and Lewis Hall, as well as forward Omari Hutchinson, while Hakim Ziyech, Malang Sarr, and Thiago Silva departed on free transfers, and Gallagher is close to completing his transition to Spain.
The situation surrounding Romelu Lukaku remains uncertain, as the discontented Belgian striker has been on loan in Italy for the past two years.
