- Fans of Arsenal have noticed a potential indication that Kieran Tierney may be preparing to leave
- Tierney had a successful loan spell with Real Sociedad last season
- With multiple left-back choices available, Arsenal has also signed Riccardo Calafiori
Supporters of Arsenal are convinced they have discovered a significant sign that Kieran Tierney is ‘definitely’ set to depart this summer amidst ongoing speculation.
The Gunners celebrated a 4-1 victory over Bayer Leverkusen during their return to the Emirates on Wednesday night.
In this pre-season match, notable mentions include goals from Oleksandr Zinchenko, Leandro Trossard, Gabriel Jesus, and Kai Havertz.
However, Tierney’s name was conspicuously absent from the matchday programme’s squad list.
This omission has ignited speculation among fans, considering even injured players are typically featured in the squad list.

Arsenal fans believe Kieran Tierney is ‘100 per cent leaving’ after spotting a key detail

He was omitted from Arsenal’s programme squad list for their 4-1 win over Bayer Leverkusen
‘Kieran Tierney isn’t even included in the matchday programme. He’s definitely leaving,’ commented one fan on X, previously known as Twitter.
‘I recall a similar situation with [Nicolas] Pepe last season,’ another fan mentioned.
On the other hand, some believe it could merely be an oversight, as there were various other inaccuracies, such as William Saliba being incorrectly listed as No 4 alongside Ben White.
After completing his loan at Real Sociedad, Tierney has been the subject of transfer talks. Earlier this year, he shared with Mail Sport how much he relished his time at the LaLiga club.
The 27-year-old Scottish defender has two years remaining on his contract, which exceeds £100,000 per week.
When asked by The Athletic in May if he had played his last game for Arsenal, he remarked: ‘There is every chance.’
‘Considering the depth in that position, they now have Zinchenko, [Jurrien] Timber, [Takehiro] Tomiyasu, [Jakub] Kiwior. Four players can play there.’
‘If I return and the situation is unchanged, I’m not naive; I understand the likelihood is I’ll be leaving.’

Tierney lost his place in the 2022-23 season and spent last campaign with Real Sociedad

Arsenal have a wealth of left back options including £42million new man Riccardo Calafiori

Tierney admitted that there was ‘every chance’ he could leave the summer when asked in May
‘In football, you never know. There are rare cases like [William] Saliba, who returned after a couple of great loan seasons, but that’s not common for someone who has been out for four years and then comes back.’
‘Unusual things can occur. I might return, and there could be a spot for me. Hence, I am ready for either outcome.’
Since joining from Celtic in 2019 for £25million, Tierney has made 124 appearances for Arsenal.
During the 2022-23 season, Zinchenko claimed his position, and now Arsenal has secured Riccardo Calafiori from Bologna for £42m, further bolstering their left-back options.
Tierney participated in the first two matches of Euro 2024 for Scotland, but unfortunately, he was carried off with a hamstring injury during the 1-1 draw against Switzerland.
Arsenal will kick off their Premier League season against Wolves at home on August 17, following their final friendly against Lyon this Sunday.
