This Sunday marks one week since President Biden made a significant political announcement: he is suspending his re-election campaign against former President Trump and endorsing Vice President Kamala Harris as the Democratic nominee for the 2024 presidential election.

On early Sunday morning, the Harris campaign revealed that the vice president has raised an impressive $200 million in fundraising within a week of Biden’s withdrawal.

In a statement, the campaign celebrated what they termed a “record-breaking fundraising effort,” noting that approximately two-thirds of the donations were from first-time contributors, asserting this as “further evidence of the strong grassroots support for the Vice President.”

Biden’s decision came amid increasing pressure from within the Democratic Party to exit following a poor performance in last month’s presidential debate against Trump.

The president’s swift endorsement of Vice President Kamala Harris last Sunday sparked a wave of endorsements from Democratic governors, senators, House representatives, and other prominent party members. Within 36 hours, Harris declared she had secured the nomination by gaining the support of the majority of the nearly 4,000 delegates for next month’s Democratic National Convention.

Former President Obama and former First Lady Michelle Obama announced their endorsement of Harris on Friday, completing the lineup of major endorsements for the vice president.

The Harris campaign has been highlighting their remarkable fundraising achievements over the past week, which encompasses contributions from the campaign, the Democratic National Committee, and joint fundraising organizations.

On Monday, they noted an impressive $81 million was raised within just 24 hours following Biden’s announcement.
