Biles performed the Chung to secure her place in the vault finals.
Upon returning to her teammates, it was evident that Biles was struggling with either an ankle or calf injury, as she hobbled while gathering her belongings for the next event.
An apparent injury occurred during her warm-up for the floor exercise, as her earlier smiles turned to concern following her balance beam routine.

Biles was heard discussing with her coaches that she felt a tweak in her lower calf or upper ankle area. Medical staff examined her ankle and secured it tightly prior to her floor exercise. She successfully powered through both the floor and vault events.
“I think I’m going to need a wheelchair,” Biles commented after her vault warm-up.
All eyes were on her as she made her return to Olympic competition, three years post the twisties incident. She scored 14.733 on the balance beam, 14.600 on the floor exercise, 15.33 on the vault, and 14.433 on the uneven bars.
Biles executed her uneven bars routine nearly perfectly, expressing a big smile after a solid landing.
Even with her injury, she remained the standout athlete from Team USA across those events.
