Rebecca Romijn has now entered two significant pop culture realms: “X-Men” and “Star Trek,” and she’s observed a notable distinction between the two.

Over the weekend, Romijn attended Comic-Con to discuss her role in Paramount+’s “Star Trek: Strange New Worlds,” which is set to return next year for its third season.

The former model and actress previously portrayed Mystique in the 2000 film “X-Men,” which is based on Marvel comics, along with its sequels: “X2: X-Men United,” “X-Men: The Last Stand,” and a brief appearance in “X-Men: First Class.”

When comparing the fan bases, Romijn shared with Entertainment Weekly that Marvel’s supporters can be “somewhat intimidating,” adding that they are “really intense.”

“You definitely want to get it right; pleasing everyone is key.”

She elaborated, “The Marvel fandom felt more daunting compared to the Trekkies. Star Trek fans refer to it as a ‘Trek family,’ creating a very supportive, loving atmosphere rather than a menacing one.”

Romijn expressed that “being part of both franchises has been an incredible experience.”

The 51-year-old actress also mentioned her husband, Jerry O’Connell, who is involved in a comic book universe as well, lending his voice to Superman in “Justice League Dark: Apokolips War,” where she voiced Lois Lane.

“I get to embody some truly iconic characters,” she shared.

In her role as Mystique in the “X-Men” series, Romijn faced the challenge of appearing almost entirely nude, covered from head to toe in blue body paint and prosthetics.

“You definitely want to get it right; pleasing everyone is key.”

Romijn recounted, “My first experience being painted for Sports Illustrated took 13 hours, and during my first makeup test for ‘X-Men,’ as Mystique, it was a tedious 12-hour procedure.” Romijn told Fox News Digital in 2016, “Eventually, we managed to reduce it to nine hours, which meant I’d often start my day around midnight to prep for a 9 am shoot. I’d arrive at midnight and be painted the whole night long.”

“I couldn’t exactly doze off during it, as I had to effectively collaborate with the painters, which was draining!” she remarked.
