During the Opening Ceremony of the Paris Olympics, Simone Biles’ mother shared a humorous anecdote about rapper Snoop Dogg dismissing them in New York City.
Nellie Biles was interviewed alongside the rapper by The Today Show’s Hoda Kotb during the live coverage of the opening ceremony.
During this interview, Nellie recounted an instance when she and Simone had to wait for the hip hop star.
‘I still remember meeting you in Times Square back in 2010. We asked for a photo—and you said “two minutes.” One, two, and suddenly you were gone [laughs],’ Nellie quipped.
Snoop chuckled at the comment as Kotb quickly shifted to another topic.

Making her Olympic comeback three years after stepping back from several finals at the Tokyo Games for her mental health, Biles powered through discomfort in her calf to guide the U.S. women’s gymnastics team to the finals.
During the early qualifying rounds, Biles, Suni Lee, and Jordan Chiles achieved 1-2-3 placements in the all-around event, although Chiles will be absent from the all-around final due to country-specific entry limits.
Chiles may still qualify for the floor exercise final if she places in the top eight. Lee is nearly assured a spot in the beam and bars finals, while 2020 floor exercise titleholder Jade Carey is positioned favorably to join Biles in the vault final.
Despite the spotlight on Biles, there was a moment of concern when she exited briefly for medical assistance after her floor routine; she experienced calf discomfort during warm-ups, but U.S. coach Cecile Landi reassured that it was a minor issue.
She performed in front of a celebrity-packed audience that included Tom Cruise, Jessica Chastain, Anna Wintour, and Lady Gaga, who praised Biles on social media: ‘She nailed it, what an honor to be so close!’
