Kristin Cavallari is opening up about her experiences on one of MTV’s most cherished reality shows.

Though her stint was brief, spanning only three seasons, the “Laguna Beach” alum acknowledged that her reality was far from what it appeared.

“I think I left ‘Laguna Beach’ with the belief that I was the only one MTV manipulated, and I ended up feeling like I got the short end of the stick, taking everything very personally,” Cavallari stated in an interview with Bustle.

Cavallari was a high school junior when the show first aired, showcasing the lives of a group of friends in an upscale coastal community in Southern California.

However, she later realized that “they manipulated everyone just like they manipulated me.”

Reflecting on her experiences from two decades prior, Cavallari doesn’t seem to hold any lingering bitterness towards the network.

“Laguna Beach” led to several successful spin-offs for MTV, including six seasons of “The Hills,” set in Los Angeles, and two seasons of “The City,” based in New York.

In 2019, “The Hills: New Beginnings” premiered, reuniting most of the original cast with a few new faces, showcasing their lives as they entered their 30s in Los Angeles.
