• Alex de Minaur and Alexei Popyrin are eliminated from the Olympic Games
  • The Australian duo lost their first round match in men’s doubles
  • De Minaur had to withdraw from the men’s singles event

Alex de Minaur and Alexei Popyrin have been eliminated from the Olympic Games after suffering a first-round defeat in straight sets.

De Minaur could not compete in the men’s singles due to a hip injury that also caused him to withdraw from Wimbledon earlier this month, yet he joined his longtime friend Popyrin for the doubles event.

Unfortunately, the Australian duo faced a challenging match against Team USA’s Austin Krajicek and Rajeev Ram, who secured victory with a score of 6-2, 6-4 at Roland Garros.

This outcome means that both De Minaur and his tennis star girlfriend Katie Boulter will exit the games in Paris without further participation, as Boulter also lost in the first round of the women’s singles to Anna Karolína Schmiedlová of Slovakia.
