Joy Behar, co-host of “The View,” expressed her belief that Democrats shouldn’t label former President Trump and vice presidential candidate JD Vance as “weird,” urging the party to avoid “name-calling.”
“I disagree with that; I don’t think we should use the term weird. Just call him what he is: a convicted felon,” she stated, specifically referencing Donald Trump. “It gives the other side a chance to say, ‘You think we’re weird? Look at you.’”
In recent days, several Democrats, including Vice President Harris, JB Pritzker, Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, and Rep. Eric Swalwell, have characterized the GOP ticket with the term. Swalwell remarked on CNN that the policies of the GOP ticket were both “creepy” and “weird.”
“There’s too much weirdness and name-calling. We should take the high road, move past the weird thing, and just call him what he is,” Behar, a staunch critic of Trump, commented.

Co-host Sara Haines seemed fully supportive of characterizing Trump, Vance, and the GOP as “weird.”
“Trump is arguably the weirdest of all. Commenting on his daughter’s appearance and her sexuality is weird. Living in a gold-plated apartment with your name in gold is weird. And burying your ex-wife on your golf course is weird. There’s just so much weirdness coming from that side; it sums it up well,” Haines remarked.
Alyssa Farah Griffin, who previously worked for Trump in 2020, didn’t take issue with the “weird” label and suggested it wasn’t an unfair critique.
“What they mean is this isn’t your grandfather’s Republican Party; this is one moving far outside the mainstream,” Griffin noted.

Co-host Sunny Hostin described the “weird” characterization as “innocuous” and “benign.”
“These individuals are just weird,” remarked Gov. Tim Walz of Minnesota during a campaign event for Harris on Saturday.
“The fascists rely on us reverting back, but we’re not intimidated by weird people,” Walz further stated. “Sure, it’s a bit unnerving, but we aren’t scared.”

Harris had also used the term “weird” to describe Trump during a recent fundraiser.
“You may have noticed that Donald Trump has been leaning on some outrageous lies about my record. What he and his running mate are saying can only be described as plain weird. That’s the best category for it, right?” Harris said.
