House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., criticized the White House on Tuesday for not addressing the controversial skit during the Olympics opening ceremony in which drag queens imitated the Last Supper with Jesus and his disciples.
“The White House has had multiple chances to denounce the Olympics’ disgraceful mockery of the Last Supper, yet they choose not to,” Johnson stated in a post on X. “Their lack of response should be seen as an endorsement. Over 200 million Christians in the U.S. should be aware.”
During the White House briefing on Tuesday, Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre declined to comment on President Biden’s opinion regarding the performance.
“I don’t have any information. I appreciate your question, but I just don’t have anything to share,” Jean-Pierre stated with a shrug and a smile.

When reporters mentioned that Christians were offended by the opening act, Jean-Pierre laughed and continued to avoid giving Biden’s opinion on the matter.
“I already answered your question. I don’t have more to add,” Jean-Pierre replied with a chuckle.
Biden, who frequently discusses his Catholic faith, has yet to provide any commentary on this incident.
First Lady Jill Biden described the opening ceremony as “spectacular” in her remarks from Paris, but did not specifically address the drag queen performance.
Neither Biden nor Vice President Kamala Harris’ offices responded to inquiries from Fox News Digital concerning the opening ceremony and the backlash from the religious community.
Other Christian leaders in the U.S. denounced the performance as “insulting” and part of a “war on our faith.”

Johnson made his remarks immediately following the performance, describing it as an assault on Christian principles.
“The mockery of the Last Supper last night was shocking and disrespectful to Christians worldwide who tuned into the Olympic Games’ opening ceremony,” Johnson previously posted on X, formerly Twitter. “The offensive campaign against our faith and traditional values is relentless today. Yet, we know that truth and righteousness will ultimately triumph.”

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis also criticized the performance, reiterating Johnson’s sentiments.

“The mockery of Christians during the Olympics opening ceremony represents a marker of cultural decline,” DeSantis stated.
