There are increasing concerns that Leny Yoro, Manchester United’s recent £52m acquisition, might be facing a significant injury layoff.
After leaving the field due to injury during the 2-1 pre-season loss to Arsenal at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles on Saturday, the French centre-back was seen with crutches and a protective boot on his left foot, with his leg bandaged below the knee. Fears are mounting that he could be dealing with a fracture.
Since being signed from Lille two weeks ago, Yoro had participated in his second match for United, showing promise in his first, but fell to the ground in the 34th minute, requiring treatment on the pitch before limping off soon after.
Should he be sidelined for an extended period, it would be a significant setback for Erik ten Hag, who is aiming for substantial improvement after the club’s disappointing eighth-place finish in the previous Premier League season. Last term, his squad dealt with 66 injuries, and prior to the friendly against Arsenal, he remarked that, considering the players’ workload, a recurrence of such issues could happen.
United declined to comment when approached, but Ten Hag is anticipated to discuss the situation on Thursday during his next public engagement.
In the meantime, Mason Mount has conveyed his enthusiasm for the upcoming season after last year’s debut with United, which was restricted to 20 appearances mainly due to injuries.
“I truly believe this is a new beginning, and I feel great at the moment so I can’t wait to get on the pitch and give my best,” the midfielder stated. “I’m really eager for it. I’m feeling strong and fit.”
Mount had come on as a late substitute during United’s 2-1 FA Cup final victory over Manchester City in May, and the 25-year-old feels that defeating the same team in the Community Shield next month would “set the tone” for the new season. “A lot for us as a group and individually,” he remarked. “We are aware of what we are capable of, and we showcased it at the conclusion of last season.

“We undoubtedly possess a team that can secure trophies, and that’s our primary goal. We will continue striving to achieve that and maintain focus on this objective because this is Manchester United, and we must set our standards as high as possible.”
