EXCLUSIVE: PITTSBURGH – A video from James Copenhaver, one of the individuals severely injured in the assassination attempt on former President Trump on July 13, captures a figure moving across the roof of the American Glass Research (AGR) building just moments before gunfire erupted at Trump’s rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.

The footage, recorded at 6:08 p.m. on July 13, shows a person on the roof next to where Trump was speaking, moving between the 1:00 and 2:50 marks.

Authorities believe the assailant, Thomas Crooks, 20, opened fire with a collapsible AR-15-style rifle approximately three minutes later, around 6:11 p.m. Counter snipers fatally shot Crooks shortly thereafter, and law enforcement discovered eight shell casings near his remains.

During his assassination attempt on the former president, Crooks fatally shot 50-year-old Corey Comperatore, a husband, father, and former fire chief at the Buffalo Township Volunteer Fire Department. Crooks also critically injured Copenhaver, 74, and David Dutch, 57, with both victims sustaining two gunshot wounds, as reported by sources familiar with the situation.

Copenhaver was released from Allegheny General Hospital on July 26 but continues his recovery at a rehabilitation center, according to attorney Joseph Feldman from the Law Offices of Max C. Feldman.

The initial injury sustained was to his arm, followed by a wound to his abdomen, Feldman informed Fox News Digital on Wednesday.

As the first shots were fired, Trump and rally attendees turned to view immigration statistics displayed on a large screen.

“He thought he had seen or heard something fly past him, likely a bullet. He felt it hit his arm and when he looked down, he noticed the pain, not initially realizing he had been shot a second time. It may have been shock,” Feldman mentioned.

According to FBI officials during a press call on Monday, Crooks accessed the AGR building roof by climbing on HVAC equipment and piping. He traversed various rooftops until he reached his vantage point on the AGR building, allowing him a clear line of sight to the former president.

Prior to the shooting, on July 6, Crooks, from Bethel Park, investigated the distance Lee Harvey Oswald was from President John F. Kennedy during Oswald’s assassination in 1963.

On July 7, he visited the rally location, spending about 20 minutes in the vicinity, as reported by Kevin Rojek, special agent in charge at the FBI’s Pittsburgh field office.

On the day of the rally, Crooks parked his vehicle and operated a drone approximately 200 yards from where the former president would take the stage between 3:50 p.m. and 4 p.m. FBI Director Christopher Wray testified during a congressional hearing on July 17 that Crooks had been at the rally site for about 70 minutes that morning before the assassination attempt.
