During Wednesday’s segment of MSNBC’s “Andrea Mitchell Reports,” correspondent George Solis reported on his conversations with residents in Reading, Pennsylvania, a crucial battleground in the 2024 election. Reading is part of what is known as Pennsylvania’s “Latino belt,” characterized by a Latino population at or above the state average, which could play a pivotal role in determining the election outcome.
Solis noted that although Biden secured Reading by over 46 votes in 2020, the town has shifted rightward by 15 points since 2016. He mentioned that Vice President Harris, now the assumed Democratic nominee, has shown stronger polling figures than Biden against Trump among Latino constituents.
Teresa, now volunteering at a local Trump campaign office, told the NBC reporter she voted for Biden in 2020 but changed her support to Trump for the upcoming election due to her dissatisfaction with the rising cost of living and the challenges of operating a business locally. Biden’s backing of Harris as the presumptive nominee has reportedly driven her further away.

“I just don’t trust her,” Teresa expressed to the NBC reporter.
When asked for clarification, she explained, “Because of her background — I don’t trust her.”
While Harris’ political history may not be as prominent as President Biden’s, her prior comments on illegal immigration and her tenure as a prosecutor have been highlighted by her adversaries.
In another segment of her interview, Teresa urged, “Consider what you desire for your country, for the children.”
Solis shared with Mitchell the enthusiasm he detected among Latino voters in the area, stating, “They are very motivated,” and recounted that many expressed sentiments equivalent to, “This vote is crucial to our election.”
MSNBC shared a graphic illustrating the “Latino belt,” which may influence the election’s outcome in both Pennsylvania and nationally.

He added, “The Harris campaign operates about 24 campaign offices throughout the commonwealth, which speaks volumes, as voters here understand that the path to the White House may hinge on this heated competition in Pennsylvania for both the state and the presidency.”
