Nottingham Forest has secured the signing of Portugal international Jota Silva from top-tier Portuguese club Vitoria on a four-year contract.
The 25-year-old striker netted 15 goals in 42 appearances for Vitoria last season, which led to an international call-up from Portugal’s manager Roberto Martinez in March, where he earned his first of two caps.
“It’s clear to see how thrilled Jota is about taking his career beyond Portugal, especially after such a successful stint in the Primeira Liga with Vitoria,” said Forest’s football officer Ross Wilson.
Last season, Forest concluded their campaign in 17th place in the Premier League, finishing six points clear of the relegation zone.
Under Nuno Espirito Santo, the team scored a total of 49 goals in the league, but the Portuguese manager sought to enhance his attacking options.
This summer, Forest has also added Fiorentina’s Nikola Milenkovic and Newcastle United’s Elliot Anderson to strengthen their midfield.
They have signed defender Marko Stamenic from Partizan Belgrade, who has been loaned to Olympiacos, while goalkeeper Carlos Miguel has joined the club from Brazilian side Corinthians.
