Bryony Page from Great Britain has completed her collection of Olympic medals by winning gold in the women’s trampoline event.
At 33 years old, she achieved a surprising silver medal in Rio eight years prior and secured bronze in Tokyo. However, she entered this competition as the reigning world champion and a strong favorite for gold.
Competing last in the final at Bercy Arena, Page shed tears of joy and celebrated after her score of 56.480 was officially confirmed.
Belarus’ Viyaleta Bardzilouskaya made history as the first neutral athlete to earn a medal at the Games, taking home the silver, while Canada’s Sophiane Methot secured the bronze medal.
Page, who also claimed the world title in 2021, qualified for the final with the fifth-highest score. She observed the competitors before her struggle to exceed their qualifying scores.
The athlete from Sheffield improved her score significantly, raising it from 55.620, and saw the final competitor, Hu Yicheng from China, falter during her routine.
