Team GB’s Ben Proud clinched a silver medal in the men’s 50m freestyle final during the Paris 2024 event on Friday evening.
The London swimmer finished in second place behind Australia’s Cameron McEvoy in what has been dubbed the Splash and Dash.
Florent Manaudou of France took home the bronze medal.

This achievement marks Team GB’s fourth swimming medal at Paris 2024 and their third silver, following Adam Peaty’s close second in the men’s 100m breaststroke and Matt Richards’ silver in the men’s 200m freestyle.
Additionally, Britain saw another silver medal within minutes as Duncan Scott finished second in the men’s 200m individual medley.
Scott was outperformed by Leon Marchand, who set a new Olympic record of 1:54.06, claiming his fourth gold of the Paris Games.
Earlier in the week, Glasgow-born Scott was part of a Team GB team that clinched gold in the men’s 4x200m freestyle relay.
