NewCo is on the verge of finalizing its acquisition of the Women’s Super League and Women’s Championship within the coming weeks.
Clubs from the top two divisions of women’s football in England have reached an agreement to create a club-owned entity that will assume control of the leagues from the Football Association.
The acquisition, which faced initial delays, is anticipated to be completed prior to the commencement of the WSL season on 21-22 September, with the Women’s Championship beginning on 7-8 September.
The company is currently operating under the provisional name ‘NewCo’, led by former Nike executive Nikki Doucet.
A board is being established as NewCo gears up for its inaugural official meeting in September, which will be followed by a shareholders’ meeting in October.
An interim chief marketing officer is already in position, while roles for a chief football officer, chief revenue officer, and head of communications have been filled and will commence in September.
