Mamie Laverock, the Hallmark Channel actress, marked a significant achievement in her recovery after enduring a five-story fall from a hospital balcony in May.

The 20-year-old star of “When Calls the Heart” shared a video on her official Facebook page Friday, showcasing her standing up and taking her first steps.

“Thank you to the surgeons, thank you for the prayers, thank you, Lord. Mamie has just taken her first steps,” read the caption accompanying the video.

As the video commenced, Laverock was seated on a hospital bed, sporting a patch over her left eye and both feet in aircast boots, with two family members positioned behind her alongside others off-camera.

One medical professional stood to Laverock’s left while another brought over a walker, placing it in front of her.

Laverock expressed, “I don’t know if I can still …”

“I’m here to assist,” a staff member reassured her.

The actress then positioned her hands on the walker.

“You can even push off from the bed,” the same medic guided her.

Laverock grasped one of the walker’s handles and cautiously stood up, using the bed for support as the group gathered off-camera applauded and cheered.

The television star beamed with joy.

“Here’s to standing,” she remarked.

“It does feel very strange,” Laverock remarked. “It feels really weird.”

“What does it feel like on your feet?” one medical worker queried.

“It’s very wobbly,” she answered.

“It’s kind of like wearing ski boots,” one of her family members commented.

“Yes, it really is,” she replied.

“Could you maybe separate your feet a bit?” asked the medic to her right.

“Oh wow, these ski boots are tough,” Laverock laughed nervously. She then shuffled her knees and looked up with a smile.

“So, can you put all your weight on the right and just a tiny bit on the left?” the medical worker suggested.

Turning to the medic on her left, Laverock stated, “I’ll hold your hand just in case.”

One of her family members informed her that they were currently FaceTiming her father, John.

“Let’s just get started and get used to being upright since you haven’t been for a while,” the staffer encouraged her.

“Yeah, I feel like I might fall backward,” Laverock admitted.

“You can lean against the walker for support. That’s its purpose,” the medic assured her.

The “Killing Game” actress then turned to face the camera, asking, “Is Dad on FaceTime?”

“Hi Dad,” she greeted, smiling, while her father responded, “Hi sweetheart.”

“Look, I’m standing with the walker,” she exclaimed. “All on my own.”

Laverock took a step forward with her left foot and followed with additional steps.

“Oh my gosh! Feet moving! Moving feet!” someone in her family exclaimed as the video concluded.

Laverock was placed on life support after the fall, following an undisclosed “medical emergency,” as detailed on a GoFundMe page set up by her family in May. Contributions to the fund are now closed.

Her family conveyed, “Her body has been shattered. She has undergone two surgeries lasting 11 hours each, a three-hour surgery, and another operation today. We are incredibly grateful for the doctors and nurses who have provided exemplary care since May 26.”

They also mentioned that Mamie is enduring significant pain but “continues to fight.”

“We can only cherish the miracles of each day and express gratitude for everyone’s prayers while we marvel at each miracle in her story,” they shared. “Our daughter loves her life, cherishes her family, and fights hard every day.”

Laverock had been in intensive care for two weeks before the fall and was “escorted out of a secure unit of the hospital to a balcony walkway from which she fell five stories.”

“She suffered life-threatening injuries, underwent numerous extensive surgeries, and is currently on life support,” her mother, Nicole Rockmann, and stepfather, Rob Compton, stated previously.

Mamie was initially admitted to a hospital in Winnipeg, Canada, due to a “medical emergency” on May 11, as mentioned in the GoFundMe. “Nicole was able to arrive in time to possibly save her life.”

“Mamie has since been moved to a hospital in Vancouver. Her recovery remains uncertain at this time, but she is alive and showing signs of improvement.”

Two weeks later, her family expressed devastation and shock during this tremendously challenging time, noting that Mamie was now on “life support.”

In June, Rockmann shared with the Los Angeles Times that Laverock had “opened her eyes” and was “doing well.”

“Let’s hope this is the turning point, and she will pull through. I couldn’t be more grateful for the outpouring of care. The story will be shared,” Rockmann indicated.

On July 9, Laverock celebrated her 20th birthday while in the hospital. She posted a picture of a balloon rainbow crafted by artist Evelyn Milanes, writing, “Thank you, Evelyn. Your hard work and love created such beautiful balloon art.”

“My miracle birthday… somewhere over the rainbow,” she added.

The next day, Rockmann posted a photo capturing the moment she hugged Laverock on her birthday.

“Mamie maneuvered onto her stomach, pushed herself up, and embraced me. At that moment, we realized we could share our first hug,” she wrote in the caption. “Thank you, Rob, for preserving this memorable moment.”
