Liverpool has turned down an offer of approximately £15m from Southampton for Fabio Carvalho.
Southampton’s interest in the 21-year-old forward has been known for some time; however, their proposal significantly underestimates the amount the Reds would accept for a permanent transfer.
Carvalho showcased his skills during Liverpool’s pre-season tour in the U.S., scoring in victories against Arsenal and Manchester United.
New Liverpool manager Arne Slot is keen to utilize him in his 4-2-3-1 setup, provided a compelling offer doesn’t persuade Liverpool to part ways with him.
Given the number of players joining the squad late, Slot has had the opportunity to evaluate his young talents, and Carvalho, along with defender Sepp van den Berg, have particularly impressed.
Nonetheless, Carvalho might encounter limited first-team chances when other Premier League club players, including forwards Luis Diaz, Darwin Nunez, and Cody Gakpo, return from their breaks following Copa America and Euro 2024.
Other teams have also shown interest in Carvalho, who spent the previous season on loan at RB Leipzig and Hull City.
He netted nine goals in 20 appearances for the Tigers, and another loan move would be seen as a last resort.
