Amber Jo Rutter made history as the first British woman to win an Olympic medal in skeet shooting, earning silver after a tense shoot-out against Francisca Crovetto Chadid.
Despite trailing in the final moments, the 26-year-old demonstrated exceptional poise to equal Chadid’s score and force the competition into a shoot-out.
During her last shot, Rutter appeared to hit both targets but was credited with only one, prompting her to request a review.
Ultimately, the original decision stood, even though TV replays suggested she had indeed struck both targets.
To clinch gold, Chadid needed two hits and managed to maintain her composure, representing Chile’s first-ever medal in shooting at the Olympics.
It is notable that Rutter gave birth to her first child just four months prior.
More updates to come.
