Senator Tom Cotton criticized Vice President Harris on Sunday, forecasting that she would buckle under mounting pressure now that she has become the Democratic Party’s likely presidential nominee.

Harris has not conducted a formal press conference for 15 days since securing the nomination on July 22. Although she has been active on the campaign trail, participating in various events and chatting with reporters, she has not faced the media in a formal capacity during this period.

“Keep in mind, she’s only been the nominee for two weeks now,” Cotton stated during an interview on CBS. “She hasn’t fielded a single question from the media— not even one.”

“She’s only had one truly unscripted moment when she welcomed those hostages back Thursday night at Andrews Air Force Base,” Cotton said, alluding to hostages who were returned to the U.S. on Friday and met by Biden and Harris.

“At that event, she delivered the kind of baffling word salad she is notorious for,” Cotton remarked regarding Harris’s comments at the gathering.

“Once she faces the media, and I’m sure you will insist she does, she’ll have to explain her positions on issues like her plans to end oil and gas production, her desire to ban gas-powered vehicles, and her call to confiscate private firearms,” the senator added.

Harris has changed her positions on a number of previously advocated policies, including those regarding fracking and the mandatory buyback of firearms.

“We anticipated this race would be competitive, regardless of whom the Democrats chose to run against President Trump,” Cotton said. “However, Kamala Harris has only held the nominee position for two weeks and hasn’t tackled a single question. Once the American populace gains more insight into her and her extreme viewpoints, I believe they will realize they don’t want her to carry on the Biden-Harris legacy.”

Cotton’s remarks during Sunday’s interview echoed earlier criticisms he voiced on X, stating that voters “should be deeply worried” that Harris “is avoiding answering any questions about her policies.”
