Gabby Thomas shone brightly on Monday night.
Thomas secured the top spot in the women’s 200-meter race with a remarkable time of 21.83, surpassing St. Lucia’s Julien Alfred and her fellow Team USA athlete Brittany Brown at the Paris Olympics.
Alfred clocked in at 22.08, while Brown finished at 22.20. McKenzie Long from the U.S. placed seventh with a time of 22.42.

The 27-year-old from Georgia made her presence felt on the track, claiming gold after previously earning a bronze medal in this event during the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, which occurred in 2021. She also secured a silver medal in the 4×100-meter relay during those same games.
During her time at Harvard, Thomas won 22 conference titles, showcasing her talents beyond athletics.

While at the Ivy League institution, she pursued studies in neurobiology and global health, later obtaining her master’s degree in epidemiology from the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston in May. Even with all of her academic commitments, she maintained her status as an elite athlete and claimed gold.
Brittany Brown’s bronze medal is the first Olympic accolade of her career. She previously captured a gold medal in the 200 at the 2022 NACAC Championships in Freeport and secured silver at the 2019 World Championships in Doha.
Earlier this year, she placed second in the 200 at the Olympic trials, securing her spot on Team USA for the Paris Games.

Alfred achieved silver in the 200, marking her second Olympic medal. Earlier in the week, she made headlines by becoming the fastest woman alive after winning the 100.
