The Kansas City Chiefs have encountered their first significant injury of the preseason; however, Clark Hunt’s 18-year-old daughter is recovering well after undergoing emergency surgery.
Ava Hunt, the youngest child of Chiefs owner Clark and his beauty-queen wife Tavia, sustained a serious injury following a fall during a mountain hike this week. Fortunately, she has successfully undergone surgery.
‘This little thang fell down the mountain today on a hike [and] went to the ER for surgery on a deep wound,’ Tavia shared on Instagram, accompanied by a cheerful photo of herself and Ava. ‘It’s been a looong day. Praise God she’s in recovery and already smiling. Please pray for a quick [and] complete recovery!’
The cheerleader from SMU is demonstrating a positive attitude despite the painful situation.
Once released from the hospital, Ava enjoyed relaxing on the couch while watching highlights of Simone Biles from the current Paris Olympics.

‘Update: surgery went very smoothly and I’m back at home watching my favorite @simonebiles!!’ she posted on Instagram.

‘I’m feeling great (though I might still be a little drugged up),’ she added. ‘Thank you for all of your kind messages and prayers.’
It remains unclear whether this injury will affect her position on SMU’s cheerleading squad. She is currently listed as a team member on the squad’s Instagram account.
Ava is the youngest child of 59-year-old Clark and 53-year-old Tavia. Her older sister, Gracie, achieved the title of Miss Kansas in 2021, following in their mother’s footsteps.
Clark is the grandson of oil magnate H.L. Hunt and the son of Lamar, a Pro Football Hall of Famer who was instrumental in establishing the former AFL. The AFC championship trophy carries Lamar’s name to this day.
Both Clark and Lamar are alumni of SMU in Dallas, much like Ava.
As the owner of the two-time reigning Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs, Clark’s net worth is estimated at $1.4 billion, while the family’s total wealth is about $24.8 billion according to Forbes.
The Hunt Group, their family business, also manages MLS’ FC Dallas.
