Kansas City Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker is once again using his faith to voice his opinions, this time expressing his discontent with a segment from the Opening Ceremony of the Paris Olympics.
In one part of the lengthy and celebratory production, several drag queens were elegantly posed along a raised red carpet.
The arrangement was notably reminiscent of Leonardo da Vinci’s iconic painting ‘The Last Supper’.
Many individuals took to social media to share their outrage over this portrayal, with Butker joining the chorus of critics.
He shared a video of the performance on Twitter alongside a Bible verse: Galatians 6:7-8.

“Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting,” Butker’s tweet conveyed.
The performance sparked significant backlash from many Christians who felt their faith was being ridiculed.
Twitter users expressed their outrage with terms like ‘disgusting’ and ‘Sodom and Gomorrah’ trending the following morning, turning the performance into an ongoing conversation.
Earlier this summer, Butker also attracted controversy due to a commencement speech he delivered at Benedictine College in Kansas, which some labeled sexist.
He praised the graduating women, stating that many might be more excited about marriage and starting families. He further claimed some Catholic leaders were promoting ‘dangerous gender ideologies’ to American youth.

Butker, whose mother is a noted physicist, has also spoken out against Pride month and criticized President Joe Biden’s views on abortion.
The speech generated significant controversy, leading to a petition aimed at removing the Chiefs kicker from the roster ahead of the 2024 NFL season.
Despite the backlash, Butker remains a member of the Chiefs and participated in the celebration at The White House for his team’s Super Bowl win.
